Projects - Barn Doors For Sue

For this drive through barn we needed to build the sliding door panels at 6'-4” wide by 9'-7” tall. Two panels front and rear. We used three layers of 3/4” Pine with staggered layers for structure. The exterior and interior frames are pocket hole screwed together from their inside faces. The center layer is then epoxied and screwed to the interior frame, then the exterior frame is epoxied to the center layer and screws were driven from the interior door face into the the exterior frame. No exposed fasteners on the outside. The windows and green panels are floating and have room for expansion with the seasons. This method of construction should keep the door panels very straight and true, and heavy.
