This is a 12’x80’ pavilion built for the Oxbow Beer Garden. Maine walnut braces are used throughout, cut rectilinearly. We love the look of the "“prick” posts with through-tenons that can be seen across the gable (from top to bottom plate). It's a shed roof, or “monopitch” at 3/12. A frame like this an ideal solution for seating large amounts of people comfortably. Other applications for a timber frame of this style could be an outdoor workshop, garage, sound stage or other gathering area

Maine Black Cherry is a great species to work with. When cut rectilinearly the craftsmen is given the opportunity to select for specific grain in order to maximize contrast or highlight other features that may be desirable. Recilinear cutting is a square cut made from the face of the member which follows an arbitrary path wh. If you are interested in using natural braces give us a call, we also have Maine Black Cherry available.
